The quickest way to play poker online with friends for free is PokerNow: open a table in your browser, send the link to your friends, done. Nobody needs an account or a download. On a phone, EasyPoker does the same as an app, also without an account and free for three players.

All the sites and apps below use play money, and all of them have Texas hold'em. If you would rather play against strangers than with your own group, Replay Poker gives you free chips every day, but you need an account for it. What each one costs, whether it shows ads and whether you have to sign up is in the comparison.

Free Texas hold'em, no download

You don't have to install anything to play Texas hold'em with friends. PokerNow and Replay Poker run in the browser, on a computer and on a phone, and WPT HOME has a browser version too. EasyPoker and WSOP Poker are apps.

Multiplayer poker means you play against real people, not against the computer. That works on every site with a private table, so on PokerNow, EasyPoker, Replay Poker and WPT HOME. Your group sits at one table, everyone on their own device.

How to set up a game with friends

One of you opens a private table and sets the BlindsForced bets, so there is something in the pot in every hand: the small blind and the big blind. In tournaments they go up on a schedule.More in our poker terms and the starting chips.
They send the others the link or the code, for example in your group chat.
To talk, use the chat on the site or call each other on the side. PokerNow has a video chat, free for 30 minutes a day. EasyPoker has a voice chat.

Poker apps for friends

EasyPoker, WPT HOME and WSOP Poker are apps for iPhone and Android. PokerNow and Replay Poker have no app: you play in the browser on your phone, without installing anything.

For a private game, the biggest difference is what a larger table costs. EasyPoker is free for three players, and from four players the host needs Plus, the others don't. PokerNow seats up to ten players at a private table without a subscription. We don't name a best poker app, because it depends on what your group wants: an app or the browser, an account or none, chips to buy or not.

No account needed

You get to the table without an account on PokerNow, in the browser on a computer or a phone. EasyPoker has a guest mode in its app. On Replay Poker and WPT HOME you have to register, and WPT HOME is for 18 and over only.

What play money means

Play money is chips with no cash value. You can't cash them out or exchange them back for money, so all you can win is more chips. Free means that playing costs nothing. The sites make money with subscriptions, ads or chips for sale.

On PokerNow and EasyPoker there are no chips to buy. On Replay Poker, WPT HOME and WSOP Poker you can buy chips with real money. Replay Poker's terms say that bought chips can't be exchanged back and that paid purchases are final. The money for the chips is gone either way, however the hands turn out.

What to watch out for

A subscription for bigger groups: On EasyPoker, three of you play for free. From four players the host needs Plus, the others don't. PokerNow seats up to ten players at a private table without a subscription.
Chips for sale: On Replay Poker and WSOP Poker you can buy play money with real money. WSOP Poker also sells packs with random contents.
Real money: If a site asks for a deposit or advertises cash prizes, it is no longer free poker.

Rather play at a real table?
